Take a look at these photos. I wanted to make a quick dark arena type thing with the /fill command. But then I realized that light was still coming through the walls and ceiling of the bedrock I placed with the /fill command. I also tried it with other blocks and it still did not work.
There used to be light diamonds like the ones in the picture everywhere on the ceiling but I filled them in with dirt I hand placed and was able to get rid of most of them, but I couldn't get light from getting through the walls. The second picture shows what my land looks like, it's still light even though it is within I giant bedrock box with no holes.
I've made giant ceilings before in past versions without /fill and it made the land very dark below it, please fix, this has made me really frustrated!
Thanks

Am having this issue in 14w05b. I think this is a problem with the blocks not updating as "solid," as I have had this issue with MCEdit as well.
Still a concern in 14w06b.
I have the 400 blocks under a 20*20 area covered with the /fill command completely lit with sunlight. Weirdly enough, it didn't prevent monsters from spawning beneath it. I guess the glitch is purely visual.
Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version Snapshot 14w11b or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
The area with the lighting glitch used to have a structure, which I removed by filling the area with air. The structure was a hollow scaffolding of a 16x16x16 cube. Just the corners and straight lines of blocks connecting all the corners.
