Minecraft won't work

I downloaded java and i thought i could play minecraft and everytime I load it and click play it says this Initializing game error

I expected to be able to play minecraft with my friends
It would load up after i download java

I got this error Initializing game
Describe what happened here

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Load Minecraft
2. Click play
3. Gives you a error saying Initializing game
