Crash sometimes when placing torches

No crashes in 14w06b, but a strange block appears when placing torches by right clicking on a side of another torch (or a stair or another non-torchable block)

Same crashes me in 15w39c when places torches. Doesn't bring up the option to file a crash report. says something about being outside java something.
