[MC-48240] Big Portals are broken

They are totaly messed up. Lock at the picture.
There are many gaps generated.
I can not disable it.
The blocks are misaligned.
In addition, TNT will not destroy the whole portal.

Hello,
i have tested it again. You can activate the portal clean. But it will be damaged when you punches a Pigman. You can disable it when you destroy one obsidian block adjacent to a portal block.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version 1.7.9 / Launcher version 1.3.11 or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
