What I expected to happen was...:
I applied resistance to myself so I wouldnt receive any stat.damageTaken points from when I jumped off a small and low bridge.

What actually happened was...:
Despite having the resistance and not taking any damage. I still received points in my stat.damageTaken objective I had set up.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. /scoreboard objectives add RandomName stat.damageTaken
2. /effect @p 11 1000 2
3. Jump off small cliff, you wont take damage. But will still receive points in stat.damageTaken as I said earlier.

P.S. Thanks for helping mojang with the bug reports.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version 1.7.9 / Launcher version 1.3.11 or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

The behavior described here still exists in 14w21b. stat.damageTaken seems to track possible damage instead of what damage the player actually suffers. It also doesn't take account of armor or the split-second of invincibility after a suffering a hit (if you click a player twice really fast, only the first hit will damage them, but both hits will be counted by stat.damageTaken).
