What I expected to happen was...:
I thought the mooshroom would jump up on the block that was 1 level higher to follow me because I was holding Wheat and it was "interested" in me as it would follow me with its gaze
What actually happened was...:
The cow was still "interested" but just walked back and forth and sometimes pivoting in place and did not jump to clear the block in front of it.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. spawn a mooshroom, or any mob
2. harvest, or cheat some wheat into your inventory X
3. try to get the mooshroom to follow you up a set of blocks in the "stair" shape, but not the stair block eg. XX

I can't seem to recreate it,
I made a new superflat world, and built a 1x10 staircase out of grass blocks, reaching 10 blocks in height.
I spawned a mooshroom, and held wheat as I walked backwards up the stairs.
I did the same with a normal cow, and a sheep.
all three were able to follow me up the stairs with no problem.
this was tested in 1.4.5 and also in 1.4.6
I did notice some of the pivoting you mentioned while I was guiding them down, but I think that was because I was flying and too far away, it stopped after i went closer.
only other problem I had was with the cow in 1.4.6 right when I spawned it I experienced the disinterest bug.
Other than the listed problems I was unable to recreate it.
I will see if I can get a video on this behavior. I think I also forgot to note that I was using the weekly snapshot of 12w50b (I think) I will have to verify. I will also screenshot my main screen menu and include that screen.
Can you perhaps post a video of this behaviour?
