[MC-51325] Nether Portal Trap

Entering a nether portal, the other end is walled off on both sides, you get stuck in the purple wavy transition screen unable to enter commands or even hit the escape key to get the game menu. Have to force quit the game to close it.

How can this be resolved when the exploit is still there? My character has been stuck in a nether portal for 2 days unable to even ask for help.

still happens in 1.16.3 but you can still open the esc menu but STILL NOT OPEN CHAT

but if you get a modified client with keybinds you can set one to /tp home or any other command as keybinds ignore opening the chat but that invalidates the issue unfortunately
