Sand and gravel won't fall in my Minecraft realm

Is this still a concern in the latest Minecraft version 1.7.9? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

What are your coordinates? I ask because that's normal behavior if you're extreme distances out (in the tens of millions of blocks).
