if you middle click to place blocks in the crafting table it puts down stacks of 64 even though i only have 7 wheat.

This does not only occur in Creative mode for me, it also occurs in Survival. It has seriously slowed my workflow. This bug occurs for any item, not just wheat. It also occurs in any inventory, not just in a Crafting Table.
As you can see, I would like to turn these 28 coal into coal blocks, but middle clicking and dragging does not distribute the coal as it should, rather placing "ghost items" in stacks of 64 which disappear immediately after releasing the middle click button.

@unknown: Please force a crash by pressing F3 + C for 10 seconds while in-game and attach the crash report ([minecraft/crash-reports/crash-<DATE>-client.txt|http://hopper.minecraft.net/help/finding-minecraft-data-folder]) here.
I have attached the crash report as requested. The crash report states that the game is likely modded, but I assure you that it is not. It is a vanilla snapshot jar downloaded from the vanilla launcher.
This ticket is invalid as it relates to a modified or 3rd party client, server, or launcher.
Any non-standard client/server/launcher build needs to be taken up with the appropriate team, not Mojang.
Any plugin issues need to be addressed to the creator of the plugin or resource pack.
This site is for addressing issues related to the base unmodded Minecraft; Bukkit, Forge, Optifine, or any other modded system invalidates your ticket, unless it can be shown to happen in Vanilla.
Additionally, if you have problems on large-scale modded servers, please report it to their site. It's probably not a bug in Vanilla Minecraft.
I can confirm this on 14w21b, SSP. You need at least 2 items in a stack for this glitch to happen. Using left click to grab the stack, press the middle button (the scroll wheel) and it will show stacks of 64. They vanish after the middle button is released.
If you use 2 items, only 2 stacks of 64 will show. If you use 3, only 3 stacks of 64 appear...etc.
I'm pretty sure that this works for anything that stacks, but I had some spare command blocks in my inventory, so I used them.
EDIT:I'm glad this has been reopened. It was really easy to reproduce, so I'm not sure why the Moderators didn't test it in vanilla in the first place (unless they didn't understand the report).
