[MC-52309] chat not visible in minecraft even when chat shown is on

I'm having an issue in my server where chat is not visible to me, yet those I'm on with can see it. I can't see commands, anything, yet when i enter a command like /time set 0 it works like normal. PLEASE HELP! Thank you.

Chat is also not visible in single player mode. And, YES, chat: shown is selected.

Please force a crash by pressing F3 + C for 10 seconds while in-game and attach the crash report ([minecraft/crash-reports/crash-<DATE>-client.txt|http://hopper.minecraft.net/help/finding-minecraft-data-folder]) here.

Make sure chat opacity is not set to 0.
