In a minecraft night, all blocks look sunlit, and inside a building at night, artificial light sources don't work. I think this may have something to do with my Operating System. Thank you, and Merry Christmas.

I have that exact computer. It is a powerPC, and this bug has been around since the lighting engine rehaul in Minecraft Beta 1.8.
PowerPCs were not compatible with the lighting engine, so blocks looked sunlit, unless covered in a shadow. This is because of your computer, not necessarily your operating system.
PowerPCs have an extremely old version of Java (so old that Mojang will soon not support it), so this cannot be considered a true bug. (Imagine saying that the empty sign bug present in 12w27a is still a bug just because you haven't updated to a later version).
@Anon Ymus It isn't a bug. It is an unsupported version now, this should be marked as invalid. I can provide what it looks like when I get back to my home computer tomorrow, but for now I am stuck on my laptop.
It is a PowerPC issue (I have it too), but currently PPC is still supported for 1.5, only when 1.6 comes will support be dropped. The effects of the bug is just lighting limits being set wrong, in effect, surface and enclosure lighting being switched. It may also have a corrolation as to why the Mojang loading screen, as well as images in achievements (sometimes, can't say it's constant, I think it's certain clipped images), are rendered blue, and at half saturation (still have to owrk out exact details, but that overall effect is there). Perhaps it was something vague in the code... it's hard to know.
