Snapshot Inventory Clearer

Recently I have just done a video on the recent snapshot review 14w17a and I was reviewing for You Tube. Once I was done with the review I had gone into the latest released version for MINECRAFT and that was 1.7.9. But the only problem the once I had gone back into one of my own single player worlds was that all of my inventory space and blocks and items in chest, (etc) was completely gone. That means that for an example if you had three stacks of iron, that would be all gone. I've noticed that this would appear in the past snapshots as well. I dont know if there can be anything to help out this issue. But all I know is that it gets very annoying trying to esitimate all your items back into the game. So I would very likely to fix this thankyou.

This is intended. Snapshots are mean't to corrupt your world unless you have a backup.

In longer terms, when you make a world with new blocks from 1.8, they get deleted upon returning to an official version. EX. 1.7.9

Blah is partially correct, while it is not intended that this happen, Minecraft does not provide any guarantee on moving your world backwards in versions, especially when it comes to snapshots, thus why the launcher tells you to make backups before using ANY snapshot.

Think of it as the same as upgrading a 1.5 map to 1.72, then later trying to downgrade it back to 1.5. Anything new from 1.6 or 1.7 is going to vanish from the map. A recent snapshot completely redid the inventory system, so I'm not surprised that inventories don't carry over in a downgrade. Also keep in mind that the snapshots are for the upcoming 1.8. They're not 1.7. Next time copy the map and use the copy for the snapshot.
