Put the summary of the bug you're having here
Recently updated windows operating system to 8.1 which I thought would not cause any issues with the latest Java application or games
Was playing minecraft for 20 minutes and found that it was frame dropping below 30 FPS which is a 50% drop
Describe what happened here
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Update windows 8 to 8.1
2. Run minecraft application and begin play
3. Wait till chunks load and check current FPS status with graphic unadjusted (Graphics are on fast, clouds off, Vsync on or off, no bobbing etc)

You might try to update your graphics card drivers following these instructions: Updating Graphics Card Drivers.
Do not rely on automatic searches for driver updates.
Do not use Windows Update or Device Manager - Microsoft doesn't install OpenGL, they promote DirectX.
If you know the brand and type of your graphics card, go to the links provided above and search manually for the most recent driver for your card. The automatic detection tools of the card manufacturers are not recommended.
