slime blocked doesn't stay linked to a block when the block is moved by piston

when a placed wool on the end of a piston with a slime block on top of the wool, the slime block didn't move when the piston was activated but the wool did.

I also tried this with other blocks instead of wool and the same thing happened

Intended. The slime block has to be connected to the piston (vertically or in the air only) in order for both blocks to move. If the slime block is above the wool block, and the piston is pushing the wool block in a horizontal direction, the slime block WON'T move.

but the slime block should be stuck to the wool so why does it not move

No, the slime block doesn't have its sticky property when it's not directly connected to the piston.
