i activated sticky piston using a lever. I then placed a redstone block on top of the extended section of the piston, but when i turned the lever off the piston stayed active.

i don't think this is intended as when I try it from the sides or the bottom of the piston it doesn't stay activated

I had the same problem, but instead of a block of redstone I had a normal block, which I powered. (The whole contraption was supposed to be a piston switch to a redstone wire. The piston came from underneath.) The piston worked, until I powered the line and the block above the piston was powered. Then the piston refused to go down again.
the redstone block keeps the piston powered, same happens with other blocks who get power from redstone
I don't say this is intended, I just don't know
