[MC-5527] Sponge isn't absorbing water in superflat water world!

What I expected to happen was...:
The sponge should absorb the water ind the water wolrd (superflat)

I placed a sponge under the water (water wolrd in superflat) and the sponge didn't absorb the water

The water removal function was removed ever since Alpha
