[MC-55286] If you have powered redstone powering a redstone repeater, and that repeater is powering another repeater from the side, the tick switch on the repeater turns into a bedrock texture.

I wanted to see what would happen if a redstone repeater was powered from the side
I wasn't sure if it would work

The tick part turned into a peice of bedrock
it still wasn't powered

Steps to Reproduce:
1. place a source of power (Redstone Torch)
2. have a repeater facing outwards
3. have another repeater facing sideways with the first one powering the sideways one.

Look up locking repeaters.

Also, Your Java version is out of date! Please update your Java to the latest version (1.7.0_55): http://www.java.com/en/download/.
