You are unable to place torches in adventure mode. While this might make sense for some maps, it does not in mine (and several I can think of). For instance, my map is a long abandoned fortress. Does it make sense to have burning torches on the walls? No... the player(s) are given torches so they can light up the place as they go, but currently they cannot. Survival mode is not a viable alternative because it would enable other options that players would exploit in ways that are inappropriate for the map (breaking walls with hands, for example). Placing torches definitely worked in 1.7.
What I expected to happen was...:
That in an adventure map, placing torches for light in areas that are dark would be a common necessity.
What actually happened was...:
You are unable to place torches (or break them for that matter).
Steps to Reproduce:
1. In creative/survival mode, place torches in your inventory.
2. Place a torch on a wall.
3. Switch to adventure mode.
4. Attempt to break the torch you placed previously.
5. Attempt to place a torch on a wall.
Works as intended. You aren't supposed to place/break blocks in adventure mode.
