I know that you can move villagers by walking into them, but it's not working for some reason. I had to dig my way out of a room I built because I couldn't move the villager that was in the doorway; I walked through it instead of pushing it. It's still in the same spot even though I took out the entire wall and door. I also can't kill it so I can spawn another.

Like I said, I took out the entire wall and the door and tried moving it and it still doesn't work. And yes I wish that could happen, it would have made my life easier.
I've had that happen. You can push villagers if you can get on the other side of them, but if you push them into a corner you can't get behind them to push them out. Happens 9 times out of 10 when standing in a building that every villager crammed into, back when all the villagers cramming into one building was an active bug (all of 1.7?). Don't know what the solution would be but something needs to be done. If only their area for sensing you clicking on them was skintight you could open the door over the villager's shoulder.
