The fence glitched
Make a fence that fits a fence gate, and put a Fence gate on top, but place the fence gate from a diagonal position, and the one on top will glitch

Can reproduce (see screenshot), but only when standing in a line with the fence like on the right of the screenshot
When standing in front of the first fence gate (perpendicular to the fence) the second fence gate will be placed "normally" (left of the screenshot)
This is working as intended, since most of the blocks in Minecraft will be placed facing to the player.
