I loaded (a backup of) my single player world and all the rivers and lakes were empty

EDIT: The water is there but invisible

Are you sure the water isn't just there but invisible?

Yes the water is invisible. I didn't saw that (because it was invisible). So if you create a infinite water source it becomes invisible
