Oak block texture and behaviour missing

Started a new world and spawned in a Roofed Forest biome, first thing you ever do is get wood for tools. So i went to a 4X4 oak tree and mined a block. the texture is purple and black checkerbox name Oak Wood. Could not convert the blocks into planks in personal crafting table/inventory

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Mine a Oak wood block from a large oak tree.

Additional information:
The bug does not affect oak blocks given from creative inventory.

I gave myself a oak block from creative and attempted to place it on top of one of the unmined oak tree blocks that were bugged and MC crashed. attached is the crash report.

java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Cannot set property ayi{name=axis, clazz=class dv, values=[X, Y, Z]} as it does not exist!
