barrier block will cause blocks above them to become invisible

when i place blocks on top of a tower of barriers they become invisible

the blocks were supposed to look like they were floating

what happened was that i placed one and it was fine the next one turned invisible
Steps to Reproduce:
1. place down a barrier block
2. place one block of any type on the barrier
3. do the same as step 2 and it should turn invisable
