Named Guardians still despawn as if unnamed

Regular Guardians (not Elder Guardians) that have been named by a player with a name tag will still despawn if you get too far away from them, like any unnamed hostile mob.

I expected the Guardians to not despawn, as all other mobs that have been named with name tags do not despawn.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Name a Guardian with a name tag
2. Move far enough away from the Guardian so that the chunk that it is in unloads
3. Return to the chunk the Guardian was in
4. The Guardian will have despawned

Hmm.. Not enough info. Was the guardian in a cage, where it couldn't escape, or somewhere in the ocean?

Yes, the Guardians I've tested it with could not escape or kill themselves in any way; they simply despawned.

Is there any specific info I can give you to help? The bug seems pretty straightforward.

I tried it and it didn't work. Unless it was only because it was only a cage with a 2-block space. (Which is likely)

Just to be clear, I'm referring to the normal, small Guardians despawning when named. The Elder Guardians (the big ones) do not despawn under any circumstances other than Peaceful mode. I specified that this report is pertaining to regular Guardians in the first line.

Okay, it seems to have been my mistake. Mobs spawned with a spawn egg named on an anvil will despawn as normal mobs, but mobs named with a name tag will not despawn. This applies to all mobs, Guardians included.

Can still reproduce this behavior, but have suspicions it's actually just MC-2025.

Vanilla SMP servers and Bukkit both affected.

Guardians named with Name Tags will eventually despawn. Sometimes it's the first time the chunk is unloaded, sometimes it takes a few days. The amount of time it takes is inconsistent, but eventually all named Guardians disappear.
Guardians spawned from spawn eggs and Guardians spawned naturally both affected.

Guardians were kept inside 4x5x4 spaces, consisting of four layers of water and one layer of air, enclosed by solid blocks on three sides and glass on the fourth side.

There should be no reason for it to despawn, PersistenceRequired gets correctly set to 1

I agree that there should be no reason for it to despawn.
Regardless, my fish are missing, haha.

It still happens...

but guardians that are named don't despawn on the server I sometimes play on.

It may be a glitch for me.
