hunger glitch

I was messing around with /give and the ench data tag. when I swapped over to survival, my hunger bar was at 0 and whether I ate, went to creative and back, it stayed like that. Then I saved and quit then upon re-entering the world, my hunger was fine. And I was taking damage.
