Pistons retract when powered by a block they're pushing with pulling block back

Take the following setup.
1) A sticky piston which pushes a redstone block
2) A wire from the block's position leading back into the piston

when the wire is connected the piston will be rapidly powered and unpowered, and will retract without bringing the block it was pushing back
