Cannot add fake players or named entities to scoreboard teams

As of 14w26a/b, you can no longer add fake players to scoreboard teams.

Steps to reproduce:

1. /scoreboard teams add <name>
2. /scoreboard teams join <name> FakePlayer

It will error with 'The entity UUID provided is in an invalid format'.

Just to clarify, you can still add fake players to objectives and modify their score, just like normal. You can also add custom-named entities to teams, though their custom name does not show up if you set the display to 'sidebar'. It reverts to their UUID.

Yes, I hope this wasn't intended. I've been working on a mini-game that uses fake players (dummy players? I'm not sure of the correct terminology) to track team scores with names like "RedTeam". In 14w25b and before, I could add these fake players to the team so their name would show up in the sidebar with the team color. But in 14w26a & b, I can no longer add the fake player to the team, so they all show up as white in the sidebar.

I had the same issue. This RUINS my Minecraft map and I cant see a easy way of what I am trying to do without this feature. I really hope this was not intentional!

This issue still exists in 14w26c.

ah true. But dropping the section symbol, and adding this "bug" as a feature would be taking away the feature of adding multiple colors to a fake player name, which I doubt they'll do. They would have to put something else in to replace it. And adding JSON to fake player names doesn't sound too feasible. They would probably create a new way for adding data to the scoreboard display. And I kinda doubt that's going to happen soon, at least not for 1.8.

In terms of teams, you can set your own custom prefix (and suffix), in which you'd have the ability to enter custom text with formatting of your choice. You could probably end up using that to create a portion of the fake players' name up to the last letter (which you can still apply formatting to at the end of the prefix). Currently the team prefix/suffix appears to still use the section symbol, so that would still need to be watched out for if it becomes limited a single color only.

@@unknown Your screenshot does not explain this bug resurfacing. I could not reproduce this report in 15w51b. Are you sure you're on the correct report?
