The cursor shows as a inverted colors box instead of the normal +.

I had this issue in 14w25 although it went for me so thought nothing off it.
seems to me like a region (being the crosshair) inverts the colours behind it

This is related to your incompatible resource packs. If you remove them this will not show up.
