Crafting Table crashes when crafting the third tier of map

I was on the nerd cubed fan server and was making a map with a crafting table to see everything from a new perspective. I spawned in a map from the creative search function, then I left click-dragged two stacks of paper in a ring to make 16 per slot, leaving the middle one empty. I placed the map into the middle slot and crafted a larger map, then immediately placed the new map back into the middle crafting slot but instead of giving me a larger map upon clicking the box with the bigger map in, it crashed to the launcher and gave me the attached crash report.
