I have not done any tests, but in my survival world items seem to not despawn. I would leave and explore. Then find items still on the ground from an hour ago. This might be a cause of lots of lag I get in the snapshots.

Items does not "age" when the chunks unload, so if you leave the chunks, the items will still be there even if you come back 2 weeks later.
This is intended. If you dont leave the chunks, they should despawn after a while.
I'm having a similar issue with realms, xbox 1s, high speed cable modem (I've checked the speed test, its good) and my buddy running a high speed gaming PC and high speed cable modem on both platforms Items are not despawning, water does not seem to flow right sometimes when you remove a block underwater and its laggy than hell, i.e. click to open chest then wait a 3-8 count for it to open. HELP!! this has only been occurring since either the day of, a with a day or two after this final aquatic update.
