Lag spikes when moving away from chicken

I have made a small pen with about six chicken. Whenever I move far enough to not hear their sounds, I get serious lag spike, often lasting several seconds. When I turn off the ingame volume, the lag spike doesn't happen. The lag does not happen when moving towards the pen.
