[MC-62989] Skin on Player Head doesn't show unless put in the helmet slot or placed down

When you hold player head it does not show the player skin like Dinnebone showed on his screenshot with pauseUnpause head

place it on your head, it will update the tags from old to new format, then it'll work

That is not correct ... skin doesn't load if you but it in the helmet slot ...
if you but it into the helmet slot your inventory vanish ... MC-63047

it has the skin now always for me, for me it is fixed

Which version did you test it?

14w30c that always showed the skin for me

confirmed, fixed for me in 14w30x, too
also MC-58512 is fixed
