Rendering Jungle chunks over a short period of time crashes the game

What I expected to happen was...
The tp pad in my Minecraft Map to teleport me to a Jungle.
What happened was...
The game crashed on account of a tessellating block model.
How to recreate.
1. Find a jungle in a newly created world.
2. Go a fair way away.
3. Rig up a teleport to inside the jungle.
4. The game will crash while rendering all the jungle leaves.
