Splash Potions Not Being Thrown Forward While Flying

I discovered this possible bug in 1.7.10 and tried it in 14W 30C and it still exists.

I was flying in creative mode healing animals and villagers with splash potion of healing II and found that while I was flying forward the potions would drop from under me instead of being thrown in front of where I was flying, I then stopped in mid air and threw one and it tossed like it should.

I am not sure if this is a bug or if the physics are meant to do that, but it's odd a splash potion that is normally tossed in front of you, even while running, still gets tossed in front.
