Can't Place Cobble Stairs Against Mossy Cobble

When I tried to place Cobble steps going down into a ravine I came across this problem

Steps To Reproduce:

1. Get cobble stairs and a mossy cobble block
2. Try to place it, but you can't

It might just be how the blocks formed in the picture... Im not sure though.
