Portal Blocks Being destroyed

I was playing normal survival and a ghast appaeard in the nether and shot a fireball at me missing me and destroy 5 of the 6 purple portal blocks. I've managed to replicate this bug 3 times and i currently and test it out on end portals as well.

Modified client. How can I tell? You have a map on.

This also works in affects the Overworld.
