When switching virtual desktop in Linux, some keys stop working correctly in chat. For example a becomes select all. Minecraft has to be fully restarted to be able to write correctly in chat again.

I think I somewhat understand what you are describing, and I believe this report is a duplicate of MC-3643. Holding down ctrl while changing windows/desktops causes whole words to be deleted.
