I can no longer craft fences

After the new patch was installed, I was no longer able to craft fences from sticks

What I expected to happen was...:
I expected to be able to craft fences from 6 sticks

What actually happened was...:
Nothing. Placing six sticks in order on my crafting table yielded nothing

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Make sticks
2. Place six sticks in the boxes on the crafting table
3. Doing this yields nothing
4. Placing items to make a fence gate will now make fences
5. There is no way to craft a fence gate
