My items in my chests and inventory got reset!

I am on my best survival world in 1.8 and i switch it to 1.7.2. All my items are gone and everything in all the chests were gone except for one chest. My achievements were gone in 1.7.2 but i when i switched back to 1.8 my achievements were back.
