After updating to minecraft 1.8 I have been experiencing extreme lag near trees. This is especially prominent in Cold Taiga biomes with the frame rate dropping so low that I barely move. There was no problem with this in 1.7.10.
What I expected to happen was...:
Normal framerate in all biomes.
What actually happened was...:
Game/framerate lags so much in Cold Taiga biomes that I can barely move, making them effectively inaccessible to me. Less severe lag also happens in Roofed Forest and regular Forest biomes.
The lag is much less when I am in my underground house in a Cold Taiga biome but is absolutely terrible as soon as I reach the surface. Possibly something to do with the new tree textures causing lag?
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Enter a cold taiga/roofed forest/forest

Ah, I thought there were new textures for the trees? My mistake I guess, sorry.

Probably a duplicate of MC-45458

Yes.

It maybe has to do with the snow tiles. You said that the lag was only present when you reached the surface, so there has to be something out of the ordinary on the surface in a cold taiga biome that causes the lag. The only difference between normal taiga and cold taiga is the snow. Maybe the snow tiles are the culprit in this case.
There are no new tree textures in 1.8.
What do you mean?
