The bug
After loading up minecraft and clicking on the multiplayer button, it shows all the servers in my list, and most if not all 99% of the time come up saying "Can't connect to server" until I click the refresh button.

This happens frequently with my server also, which is on a Gigabit Ethernet LAN connection to the client. Server is vanilla (no mods) 1.8.8 on Ubuntu Linux, the hardware is a little old (Athlon 64 with 3GB RAM) but seems to get the job done. Clients are late-model Macs running OS X El Capitan with 16GB RAM each. If I were to guess, maybe the timeout before the Minecraft client considers a server to be "offline" needs to be bumped up a few tens of ms.
Is this still an issue in the most recent versions (currently that is 1.10.2, or 16w42a) of Minecraft? If so, please update the affected versions and help us keeping this ticket updated from time to time.
Still happens to me (about 75% of the time) on three 1.10.2 servers and one 16w42a server, all on local network, but also when accessed from outside the local network. Usually one of the four shows as available and the other three not until refreshed.
Note: All four servers are on the same IP address, different ports.
confirmed for 1.8.8,happens all the time with my server
