Minecraft 1.8.1 Rare Slimes In Swamps

I have been playing in minecraft 1.8.1 and I have a swamp biome near my spawn. I am trying to do an LP but cannot get slimes, as they are super rare and hard to find. I have been told several times that there is a bug (at least I hope its a bug) which makes slimes very rare. Apparently the code ends up checking the rare scale thing several times making them super rare. I would ask that this could please be fixed as I need the slime balls desperately.
