Dispenser disappears when broken (Sometimes)

Breaking a dispenser makes the item disappear (Sometimes) and I would have to craft a new one.

May be because you only get it back using a pickaxe ?
With no more info, this will likely end in Incomplete, Invalid or assumed as Working as Intended.

I did break it with a pickaxe. and it disappeared on me.
