"/scoreboard objectives add Example stat.killEntity.VillagerGolem" does not work. You cannot detect if you have killed an Iron Golem which is definitely a bug because it is a mob you can kill.

There is no "stat.killEntity.VillagerGolem". The list of accepted sub-criteria for stat.killEntity can be found here: http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Scoreboard#Command_reference
