See the attached screenshot. This can be fixed by limiting the /tp x/z range to 29999999

If you type /tp ~1 ~ ~1 while you are in x/z 30000000, Minecraft will freeze, or display an "Illegal position" message.

Confirmed for

  • 1.8.5 turning makes the arm go out of view, what @unknown said is not correct at this position you won't get the "Illegal position" error
