Minecraft in Fullscreen is still functional when minimized (Linux)

I was playing Minecraft in fullscreen on Ubuntu, then I accidentally pressed the super (Windows) key. It opened up the search menu, therefore minimizing Minecraft. However, I could not use the mouse as Minecraft was still open, just invisible. All buttons, and even moving were functional, but the game was invisible and could not be closed or opened back up.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start Minecraft on Ubuntu 14.04
2. Go fullscreen.
3. Open a server/world
4. Press the super (Windows) key
5. You will see the regular search interface, but you will notice you cannot click anything and Minecraft is still open in the foreground. Minecraft will be invisible.

Notice: I have confirmed this is a bug with Minecraft, not Ubuntu, by trying this on other programs.

Please, link to this bug which i reported almost 1 year ago and no developer reviewed it: MC-53549 . I think linux users are marginalized

CubeTheThird

@Llumex, please note that, in general, fullscreen issues on linux are due to issues with LWJGL (the graphics libraries minecraft uses), and not the game itself. I personally experience almost no issues in fullscreen (excluding this report).

Luke Ruggiero

@Llumex, I do agree. I find myself having to kill Minecraft very often, and it really does annoy me. To know Minecraft has been having fullscreen issues on Linux for more than a year really does make me think this.

Llumex

@CubeTheThird Thank you for giving me a possible solution almost 1 year after and in another bug report. However, i don't know why Minecraft developers didn't fix this bug since LWJGL is open source, they could pull a patch into the LWJGL git repository, Don't you?

@LukeRuggiero Thanks for confirming this bug. Have you a tremendous lag when you are playing Minecraft?

Luke Ruggiero

@Llumex No, I don't have a lot of lag. Infect, I lag less on Ubuntu than I did Windows, as Ubuntu installed a driver for my GPU that can handle VBOs; the one I had before would crash my game whenever I tried to enable them.
