[MC-80412] Tamed Wolf Death Message

If you have a tamed wolf with a custom name, killing it will display in chat "(Wolf's Name) was slained by (player's name) using (weapon)"

Client Side. It also happens in Servers aswell.

Well when you tame a wolf, and name it using the Nametag item, if the wolf get killed by something, it will output a death message saying the wolf has been kill from the thing that killed it.

It's a feature not a bug that was added in 1.8

Tamed Wolves named using a name tag now display death messages to the owner.
