Painting offset 1 block to the supporting wall when painting entities get unsupported NBT tags

Sometimes, paintings will be displayed offset by about 1 block and therefore seem to float in mid-air, though their hitboxes are still in place (attachments 1, 2, 4, 6 & 9). Other times, the whole entity (along with it's hitbox) will move 1 block up (attachments 3 & 7).
The original painting positions can be seen in attachments 5 and 8.
Works facing all directions.

NOTE: The world I originally saw this in was uncommonly redstone-heavy and I was unable to recreate the bug in another world.

Tested in Minecraft versions 1.8.3, 1.8.4, 1.8.5 and 1.8.6.

Sorry if this is a duplicate, i looked through all issues with the word "painting" in their name and didn't find anything similar.

Does this happen in 1.8.4?

Just checked and yes, it does happen in 1.8.4.

Cannot confirm.
Please update to Nvidia driver 352.86 http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/85051 and report if the issue persists.

Still occurs with updated display drivers (added another screenshot).

Please upload a zip of a world showing that effect.

Is this still an issue in the most recent versions (currently that is 1.10.2, or 16w42a) of Minecraft? If so, please update the affected versions and help us keeping this ticket updated from time to time.

Yes, still happens in both 1.10.2 and 16w42a

Cannot reproduce with

in 1.12.2. Anyone else able to reproduce with an up to date version?

Yes, the issue is still manifesting itself if 1.12.2. Though it appears to be manifesting itself a little differently now. Instead of the paintings dancing between being displayed 1 block away from their actual positions indifferent directions, they're now disappearing entirely.

You can still observe this issue in the attached Clash of Elements 0.2.1.zip world. In order to do so, you need to restart the old-style redstone fill clock that's running the "/entitydata @e {NoAI:1}" command at 20hz, which is stopped when you first load the map in 1.12.2. In order to do so, you can enter the commands:

/setblock 66 4 -1277 air

then:

/setblock 66 4 -1277 redstone_block.

Wait a few seconds, and you'll see the paintings disappear. Any paintings that you place after that point will also disappear within a few seconds of placing them.

They still show up on the F3 entity count as entities that are within render distance but not being rendered (i.e. placing a single painting in the middle of nowhere over the void will make the entity count read as E: 0/1 after it disappears). When the wall that a painting that's been made invisible through this means has been placed on is destroyed, that painting will reappear as a painting item entity.

Please check if that's still an issue for you in the latest 1.14.4 stable release or the latest 1.15 development snapshot.
