Randomly in the latest snapshots for 1.5 I have been getting one or more of the following happening while playing/testing:
1) Visual distortions. See Screenshot, this is one example of the type of distortion. Another I have seen are black "lines" or vertices shooting up around the map.
2) Lag (either in game only or my entire windows system)
When the lag occurs on Windows there is a quick flash of black on both my montiors then the mouse cursor jumps/lags, the audio stutters, etc. Windows goes back to normaly only when I end the process for Java.
Alternatively, when the black flash occurs, Minecraft seems to "recover", but I will see visual distortions in the textures (again see screenshot).
I removed older Java versions and updated to Java 7 Update 11 and force updated minecraft.
If I go back into Minecraft using the snapshot after killing java.exe it automatically lags at the Mojang screen. It takes up to 10 seconds before getting to the main menu. Java seems to be hovering at around 260MB of memory (as per the TaskMan). I have to terminate Java again. I then immediately loaded 1.4.7, Minecraft runs normal for hours.
After searching the bug reports I see others have white or other texture issues and some have lag issues. I didn't see any reference to Windows lagging or this type of texture issue. I first seen this in 13w03a and happens in 13w03b as well.

This was what the main menu looks like after running minecraft after that force crash. Note the purple distortion is similar to the dots while I was in game.
When back in the game, you can see how the purple dots are distorted where the shadow is in front of the blocks and a little on the blocks themselves.
Ok...the plot thickens. Those last three screenshots I posted appear to be missing those purple dots (ignore the enderchest particles). I killed dwm.exe (Desktop Window Manager) and that seemed to fix the dots. Both in game and in the screenshots!
This lead me to believe dwm.exe is the culprit. So to troubleshoot it I went and enabled "Disable Visual Themes" and "Disable Desktop Compostion", but Minecraft.exe doesn't seem to do that. My theme switches to basic then right back to the normal Aero Theme.
I'll have to do more testing on my end. I'm trying to replicate the first screenshot I posted with the textures messed up.
So I loaded a new 13w03b world in creative to play around in. Less than 2 mins in, both monitors started flashing black, minecraft lagged, choppy audio, etc. So I forced crashed it to get the report. Windows responded after that.
I think your CPU and/or graphics card is overheated:
Open up your PC and pull the dust bunnies out of the fans and heat sinks.
Switch off the overclocking of CPU and graphics card.
In the crash reports is nothing to see, everything normal.
Closing this ticket, since not a Minecraft bug. For more technical support use the Mojang Support Center.
Please force a crash by pressing F3 + C for 10 seconds while ingame and attach the crash report here.
