Invisible water source block

I was holding a bucket of water in my main hand. I was just spamming it, so I was picking it up and placing over and over again. What happened twice was that the source black was invisible. I was left with an full bucket and weird looking water because there was no visible source block. I was able to right click on the invisible source block to get the water back in my bucket. When I had the full bucket but the source block was still there, I clicked with the full bucket and it emptied it and placed no water. In the end I got my water back but it is still an odd bug
